Ex-Amazon and BlackRock AI Powerhouse Joins Tradeweb to Shake Up Wall Street Tech
NEW YORK – May 30, 2025 — Sherry Marcus has been named Head of Artificial Intelligence at Tradeweb Markets Inc., a leading global leader in electronic marketplaces. With the creation of this new position, Tradeweb is taking a risk by accelerating its AI strategy across corporate trading, wholesale, institutional, and retail advisory.
Marcus, who reports to Chief Technology Officer Justin Peterson, combines a strong background in AI leadership from BlackRock and Amazon Web Services. She most recently oversaw the 300-person data and science team that created Amazon Bedrock, the company’s premier generative AI platform. Her background in financial services includes leading global AI strategy at BlackRock and holding senior positions at Credit Suisse and Millennium Partners.
In order to keep Tradeweb at the forefront of financial technology innovation, Marcus will be in charge of enhancing the company’s AI capabilities in price discovery, dealer selection, and analytics. It is anticipated that under her direction, Tradeweb’s operations will further integrate AI, enhancing trade execution, scalability, and data-driven insights for more than 3,000 clients across over 85 countries.

With a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Cornell, Marcus has an equally impressive academic background. She has also served on the Science Board of the National Counter Terrorism Center and the NSA Advisory Board. She is an advisory member of the NYC Gen AI Council and the Allen Brain Institute.
Her appointment signals a strategic push by Tradeweb to deepen its AI footprint in global trading, aligning advanced data science with mission-critical market operations to deliver intelligent, efficient, and adaptive trading solutions.
