POST Luxembourg Partners with Ericsson to Boost Network Security
POST Luxembourg, the largest telecommunications operator in Luxembourg, has selected Ericsson as its new long-term cybersecurity partner. Under this agreement, POST will use the Ericsson Security Manager (ESM) platform to enhance security in an already vulnerable mobile network.
They want to enhance automation focusing on improving threat detection and protecting customers from vulnerabilities that have surged with technology, especially with the rise of cyber attacks against network operators. The need for stronger network infrastructure is especially important as digital services and systems become paramount and threats become aggressive and frequent.
This isn’t the first time POST has taken advantage of Ericsson’s cybersecurity solutions – POST deployed the Ericsson Threat Intrusion and Detection System (TIDS) to enhance the detection of actionable threats. Today, they are enhancing their defensive posture with the ESM platform based on the past relationship with Ericsson.
The Ericsson Security Manager Focused on telecom needs. Operates with other networking vendors in the infrastructure. Informs operators about its visibility on what is impacting the network. Uses machines in real-time to assess threats while automatically leveraging security rules every time a network system is engaged. Helps equip telecom operators to be prepared and ready.
Pierre Zimmer, Deputy Managing Director at POST Luxembourg, said that this acquisition showcases POST’s seriousness in ensuring its customers are always safe and secure while using POSTs mobile services. “When we bring in ESM, we are always sure that wherever we are – in the office, at home, or in a time of crisis, users of our products and services – whether they are consumers, businesses or emergency services – can always rely on POST to provide secure and dependable service,” he said.
Fabrice Sancho, Head of Ericsson BeLux, said, “the threats that we are facing now are more complex, and our platform helps telcos like POST better address these threats. For us it is not just about the technology, it is about trust and responsibility.”
The forthcoming NIS2 directive from the EU will require even more rigorous security requirements for 5G networks and critical systems. POST Luxembourg is proactively addressing those and other requirements that will soon come with such regulations, with ESM demonstrating compliance today to these standards.
ESM will demonstrate, through its automation, micro-perimeter security and telecom-framework design, how organizations like POST can easily comply with regulations that are required while also ensuring they mitigate data breach concerns. POST is also ensuring their systems run not just fast but also safe.
This collaboration represents how telecommunications providers can partner with technology companies to strengthen defense capabilities. As the digital landscape grows – so do threats – meaningful cooperation such as the collaboration between POST Luxembourg and Ericsson will help ensure users are protected and services are reliable. The future of mobile networks is called into question not only when we talk about speed or coverage but also about how well they can defend themselves.
