Nokia and Canal+ Telecom Partner to Enhance Caribbean Broadband
Espoo, Finland, 12th March 2025 – Nokia and Canal+ Telecom have partnered to expand and automate fiber networks in French Guiana and Guadeloupe.
Their goal is to provide multi-gigabit broadband communications to the island communities, Capturing the increasing need for fast-speed internet service. Canal+ Telecom will use Nokia’s Lightspan Mini OLT (Optical Line Terminal) Solution to speed up FTTH (Fiber-To-The-Home) rollouts.
This solution’s more compact form factor is better suited for islands and sparsely populated areas. Also, network management and operational efficiency will be improved through the use of Nokia’s Altiplano platform.
Laurent Champouret of Canal+ Telecom says, ‘As the lead carrier in the Caribbean to implement Nokia’s Altiplano platform, we are achieving network automation which predicts and fixes problems before they happen for utmost dependability as well as an increased customer experience. Our arrangement with Canal+ Telecom is a significant step towards more connectivity for residents and companies in French Guiana, Martinique, and Guadeloupe,’
Said Matthieu Bourguignon from Nokia.
This partnership has the potential to close the digital gap, stimulate economic development, and improve competitiveness in the Caribbean region. Canal+ Telecom pledges to enhance internet coverage for underserved regions within the area using Nokia’s fiber solutions, making high-speed internet more accessible.
