9TH MAY 2025-IBM has been recognized as a Leader in the 2025 Omdia Universe for No-Low-Pro Integrated Development Environment (IDE) Assistants. The acknowledgment highlights IBM’s continued leadership in AI-driven software development solutions.

At the center of this achievement is watsonx Code Assistant, IBM’s generative AI tool that supports real-time code suggestions, automated documentation, and unit test generation.

The assistant is designed to work across multiple programming languages, including Python, Java, and JavaScript, enabling developers to accelerate workflows and increase productivity.

According to Omdia’s Chief Analyst, Michael Azoff, enterprises are turning to AI code assistants to close the gap in skilled developer availability and to streamline software delivery across all roles.

Watsonx Code Assistant also integrates with IBM’s Ansible Automation Platform, providing developers with AI-generated playbooks and role templates. This reduces manual work, promotes best practices, and simplifies automation content creation through natural language inputs.

Beyond cloud-native development, the tool supports IBM mainframe modernization, aiding in the transformation of legacy systems. It improves code quality and ensures secure, scalable integration with modern platforms.

One successful implementation involved Moroccan tech firm rKube, which used the assistant to modernize over half of a legacy WebSphere application’s codebase automatically.
