SAN FRANCISCO, USA, 4th February 2025 – Cloudflare has launched a much-needed one-click solution for content creators and publishers to preserve the history of images overs its global network.

Users can now add Content Credentials to an image which describes how the image was created, who the author is, and what changes have been done to it.

This development aims to give more credibility to digital content with the growing number of images produced by AI systems.

Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare, remarks the significance of this solution:

“The future of the Internet depends on trust and authenticity. With the addition of Content Credentials around the globe, we can assist media and news companies to verify and claim ownership of their work no matter where it is used on the internet.”

Deep fakes have become overly simplistic with the advancement of generative artificial intelligence, making it hard for consumers to trust the content they see.

By adding a content warranty to pictures, Cloudflare’s solution supplies critical context.

Andy Parsons, Senior Director of Content Authenticity at Adobe, shared his thoughts about this integration with regard to their implementation;

“Cloudflare’s implementation of Content Credentials is a major win. Cloudflare goes above and beyond to ensure the accuracy of information at the last stages of the users content creation and management lifecycle. Whenever these credentials are available at the edge of the network, they act as ‘trust signals’ to users who depend on the content they interact with.”

Users of Cloudflare Images can now select the option to “Preserve Content Credentials,” safeguarding the secure embedded metadata from being altered on the entire Cloudflare network.

When an image is resized or adjusted within Cloudflare Images, the changes are made using public key infrastructure. Users that view or download the image can authenticate the file’s history with the Content Authenticity Inspect tool from Adobe.

This advances Cloudflare’s objective to strengthen the security of digital content and assist news publishers and journalists with content verification whilst protecting the rights of the potential creators.
