Celonis and Genpact Launch AI App to Cut Supply Chain Costs
Celonis collaborated with Genpact to build a new app, which puts supply chain and logistics leaders in control of their transportation processes. The Genpact Transportation Costs and Performance app is built on Celonis’ Process Intelligence platform, with a goal to ultimately address real issues stemming from today’s disrupted supply chains.
With global concerns like trade instability, labor shortages and cost escalation, supply chain teams typically don’t have clear visibility to what is causing delay or additional expenses. This new tool enables teams to see their entire operation, from shipment planning, to deliveries, and returns.
“The app supports supply chains leaders in understanding what is working well and what is not,” said Neel Patel from Celonis. “Using Process intelligence, we are enabling users to eliminate waste, improve delivery performance and prepare for AI-driven methodologies.”
The app captures data from systems such as Oracle TMS, but is also able to integrate with WMS and ERP tools. The app creates a digital twin of transportation processes, exposing issues, including what is causing delays with carriers, and cost overruns on transportation routes.
Some of the most useful applications are a Process Explorer to visually see logistics flows, a Transportation Cockpit for monitoring KPI status in real time and dashboards for on-time delivery and carrier performance and lane analysis and order cycle time.
A global consumer goods company recently used the app to determine that they were too reliant on expensive spot freight, as there their carrier performance wasn’t good since they were not performing within their contracted carriers. After their rethink using the accrual from the app, they expect to save up to 6 million dollars, with an expected improvement in delivery performance of 15 percent. Instead of getting notifications of issues after the damage is done, their real time alerts let them know when issues begin.
“This app is all about removing any guesswork in transport performance” states Mathias Vaupel from Genpact. “By unifying and visualizing the data, teams can finally proactively fix problems before they become costly.”
