BetterLesson has announced a partnership with PASCO Scientific. This partnership is focused on helping teachers give students better learning experiences through hands-on science lessons and proper training.

PASCO Scientific offers science tools that have helped classrooms since 1964!  They are recognized internationally as a leader in lab and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) equipment and materials to enhance student learning in science education.  PASCO helps students develop understanding through inquiry-based learning, experiments, and ultimately applying them in an authentic context using modern practices.

BetterLesson is a design and development organization that supports improving teacher practice through teacher training and support systems.  Their organization works closely with schools and teachers on global education systems to enhance the use of new teaching methodologies and curricula.

Together these organizations help schools with Open Sci Ed curriculum.  Open Sci Ed is an engaging and useful science program for students in grades 6 through 12.

PASCO designs kits and lessons, and BetterLesson creates a pedagogical experience for the teacher, so they can effectively teach the curriculum.

This alliance provides teachers with an all-in-one support plan, launching with training, as well as online and in-person sessions; short learning videos; and ongoing assistance. The emphasis is placed on providing teachers with the all the support they need to be successful using the OpenSciEd program immediately and all the time they need to feel comfortable teaching it to students. In other words, so they are not alone and have plenty of the right help to support their instructional practice.

Both companies also want to make it easier for schools. The two partnered packages include the science tools, the curriculum, and the professional learning so schools do not have to think about too many things on their own.

CEO of BetterLesson, Matthew Kennard, said the partnership makes everything more seamless for teachers, not having to put together different tools and training, and have them work together. COO of PASCO Scientific, Dave Manglesdorf, expanded on this and said this collaboration not only enhances all science education, but it makes it better, more available, and sustainable.

The interest for both companies is to affect the student learning of science and offer a thoughtful support plan so teachers can be at their best. This partnership is an exciting step for ensuring science is more authentic and impactful.
